National Mail Service Money Orders The National Mail Service has recently discovered several counterfeit money orders. These money orders are suspected to have come from other countries and have been used for purchasing goods online. A number of local online businesses have been victimized by this fraud. Please note that US money orders can be purchased from the National Mail Service only. No other institution is allowed to produce US money orders. Therefore, it is more likely that money orders from abroad are forged. Money orders presented at post offices and banks are subject to validation and clearance before payment.To ensure payment for purchased goods, the National Mail Service advises online businesses to check the authenticity of the money orders they receive before shipping merchandise. The US Federal Police and the mail service have been investigating the matter. Information regarding the US money order service may be viewed by logging on to www.nationalmailservice.gov. Those who would like to verify money orders or report counterfeit payments may call(405)555-3204.
