Passage 1 To narrow the gap between the rich and poor in the world, we need a true partnership for development. We hope rich countries do their part helping the poor to take control of their lives. Tens of millions of people are making their voices heard by standing up against poverty—at sports and cultural events, in universities and schools. They are calling on their leaders to keep their promises. They are calling for the actions of citizens to be matched by the actions of Governments, in developing and developed countries alike, to fight against wealth inequality. All is not lost. There is still time to help the poor. It is what we decide today, that will determine the world of tomorrow. We still have a choice. It is time to answer the call.

Passage 2 It is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in this education system. So tonight, I ask every American to receive at least one year or more of higher education or career training. This can be achieved in a community college or a four-year school; through vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma. Dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It’s not just quitting on yourself, it’s quitting on your country—and this country needs and values the talents of every American. That’s why we will provide the support necessary for all young Americans to complete college and meet a new goal: by 2020, America will once again have had the highest proportion of college graduates in the world.

Passage 1今天，我很高兴有机会向诸位介绍中国书法，及这一宝贵的文化遗产及其对中国旅游业的贡献。中国书法同其他语言的书写形式有很大区别。汉字在其漫长的发展史中演化成许多不同的书写艺术形式。许多汉字属象形文字，常可从字的形状揣知其义。无论刀刻书法还是笔墨书法都可以通过字形的夸张取得艺术效果。因此书法一直是一门研究艺术。千百年来中国书法家倾注了大量的心血研究书法艺术的形式、规则及理论。
